Response

C wrote some analysis of her parents class and financial backgrounds, and how it's affected her.

Some thoughts I had while reading:

- I can't believe she posted what her parents make on the internet. I'll post stuff about my own money, but never my parents!
- Wait, that's because I don't *know* what my parents make in a year, especially since my dad's been unemployed.
- They never tell me anything about family money because they're afraid I'll tell people, not keep the secret.
- Is it my right to divulge that information, if I have it? Probably not. I guess it's like any other secret that people ask me to keep.
- Would I anyway? I'm not sure.
- I am not a Buddhist. I'm not anti-capitalist. One of those things doesn't bother me.
- "what he can afford to need"

What can I afford to need? Does the question even make sense if I can afford everything a person *can* need? What's my definition of need, anyway?

I only know what they make because of financial aid paperwork. And my mother is uber weird about blacking out information that they don't "need" to know. She literally takes a marker to it. So I guess that's to say that I don't think she'd approve, but I'm not too concerned about it.

The internet is fairly anonymous. I wouldn't run into a building of people who actually knew my mother and step-father and tell them how much they make.

Why aren't you an anti-capitalist?
